Video Game Boss Thoughts

A word before the post begins. It's kinda long, as most of mine are. Basically, short summary. I talk about how sad it is that bosses are always getting beaten down. Sure it's for the franchise, but it's just really sad. Listen to the music video at the bottom, by DJtheSdotcom if you want to hear what I talk about. But seriously, you should really read the post.

So, I've recently been listening to a boss battle remix by amazing remixer DJtheSdotcom called "Gears of a King." He had also included an earlier version, a sad one called "Tears of a King." And While I was listening to these two, I thought about it and realized a few things. The first song in the video below represents how upbeat and excited the final bosses are, knowing that this time, they won't fail. However, the one after it shows how it always ends up. They're beaten, bruised up, and ready to go back home, upset that they lost once again. The whole thing is really sad if you think about it. So, I thought about it, and... think. King Dedede's theme occurs the most in both. He's over-confident that he won't fail, but every time Kirby beats him. Not only that, but he's just trying to help! He just needs an enemy that he can actuall fight, and Kirby's the one. Sure, he becomes a tough boss in a few games (Masked Dedede, KSSU; Dedede from Kirby Airride) but he's really just the generic boss. The really sad thing about him, though? Kirby beats him up when he can't do anything about it, or when he's helping! Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland, he was protecting the Fountain of Dreams, not hurting it, yet Kirby beats him up. Kirby's Epic Yarn? Controlled by Yin-Yarn, couldn't do anything about it. Heck, the only time he's really ever caused any actual trouble is in Kirby Super Star (Ultra) in Spring Breeze, when he takes all the food. That is the only time I can remember him doing anything bad on purpose! I just kinda feel sorry for the bosses, specifically the King Dedede's of gaming. I mean, sure Ganondorf and Bowser both take princesses for a living, but that's better than getting knocked out countless times when you're helpless or even helping someone! Who else, King K. Rool? Even he does something bad. Sure, taking all of Donkey Kong's bananas so he can starve to death and take over the island (wow, that is DARK for a kids game...) isn't really as bad as taking humans, (ok, maybe it is worse.) but at least he's doing something! Poor Dedede, controlled by evil forces, helping Dreamland, all so Kirby can walk up to him, smack him in the face multiple times, and leave to finish saving the world. Just... wow. That is really sad.

Well, hopefully that didn't upset anyone too much, I just figured I'd post something here because this blog was looking kinda dead, so yeah. Go ahead, listen to both of the songs, and listen to the rest of DJtheSdotcom's music! He's awesome!

Anyway, until next time I think of something to post about, have a great time!

EDIT: I realize I forgot about the anime, Kirby Right Back At Ya. Dedede DID try to demolish Kirby in various ways, but I was mainly referring to the games. Besides, (SPOILER ALERT) Dedede reveals he needed Kirby to compete with, he never really wanted to kill him. So yeah.

Homestuck!

An amazing webcomic, probably over 7000 pages long now! Homestuck is mostly what I've been doing recently, reading it and roleplaying it (yes, I roleplay. :D ) with some friends. This is mostly just a short little update post, but yea. You should all read it, and to give credit, Andrew Hussie is the creator and owner of Homestuck. Also, the characters in the webcomic use a chat program called Pesterchum. If you want, go ahead and download it (it's free!) and add me. My handles are megaKaby for myself and only myself, and megaKarmageddon, for Joslux, my character. But before talking to Joslux, I'd suggest reading up to Act 5 of Homestuck, which is where the trolls get introduced (specifically Sollux Captor, who I've been combined with to make Joslux Sevtor. ) Anyway, that's about it for now. Until next time!
